MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo), Qatar Airways Cargo and IAG Cargo have announced plans to establish a global cargo joint business.
The proposed partnership, which is subject to regulatory approval, is designed to strengthen connectivity, streamline service offerings and provide greater flexibility to customers navigating the increasingly complex world of global trade and logistics.
The trilateral alliance will combine the strengths and networks of the three carriers — all leading players in the air cargo sector — to offer enhanced transit times, new routing opportunities, and harmonized safety and security standards across their combined global footprint.
In a joint statement, the companies said the collaboration will allow them to deliver significant customer benefits, including improved accessibility and operational efficiency, as well as enabling businesses to expand their global air freight reach with greater ease.
“This strategic collaboration marks a pivotal moment for MASkargo and the air cargo industry,” said MASkargo Ceo Mark Jason Thomas.
“We are excited to partner with Qatar Airways Cargo and IAG Cargo to deliver a new era of value and innovation to our customers. By leveraging our combined strengths and expertise, we will provide enhanced service offerings, expanded global reach, and cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving needs of the global market, ensuring greater efficiency and connectivity for our partners and customers,” he said.
Qatar Airways Cargo chief officer cargo Mark Drusch echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership “a significant milestone” in the group’s commitment to reshaping global air cargo services.
“This agreement will bring together three strong players to offer unparalleled service and global connectivity, reinforcing our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence,” he said.
IAG Cargo CEO David Shepherd added that the deal builds on a long-standing tradition of collaboration within the industry.
“This agreement is a testament to our history of bringing businesses together. With years of experience in forging successful collaborations, we understand the real value they bring. This joint business not only unlocks choice and opportunities for our customers but also enhances connectivity for the businesses and industries they serve, further strengthening the role air cargo plays in facilitating global trade,” he said.
The three airlines are expected to implement the joint business agreement once all necessary regulatory approvals have been secured.
Customers can look forward to a more agile and connected cargo network designed to meet the evolving demands of international trade. — TMR
